I'm E.E. Lawrence, a doctoral candidate in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My research is in the philosophy of information, broadly construed, within which I focus on issues related to library & information ethics, readers/reading, popular romance fiction, and aesthetics (especially taste and recommendation).

I earned a BA in comparative literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and an MLS from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to beginning the doctoral program at Illinois, I worked in reference and web services at the National Library of Medicine.

My pronouns are they/them.
